ORIGIN AND PHILOSOPHY
Acid Salt is a fluid art collective and community based in The Netherlands, dedicated to creating sensorial experiences and exhibitions. Since our inception in 2018, we have been pushing the boundaries of sensory engagement, ensuring that viewers leave with a lasting emotional and physical experience.

Our practice reflects the nature of acid salts: when dissolved, they create acidic solutions that enhance conductivity. This mirrors our concept of “shared sensory electricity,” where contrasting forces blend to create dynamic and transformative experiences. Just as acid salts transform their environment, we aim to elevate and expand artistic encounters, turning ordinary moments into profound sensory interactions.

We merge disciplines to create 370-degree experiences—immersive events that fully engage all the senses and transcend traditional boundaries. The extra 10 degrees symbolise the unmeasurable, representing the liminal phase between experience and transformation. This is the spark of electricity that arises when all elements interact perfectly, leaving a profound impact on memory and emotion

MEMBERS
Our collective is both permanent and fluctuating. Current members—Hedwich Rooks, Angela Donskaia, Jan Johan Draaistra, Annija Muižule, and Thom van Hoek—meet regularly to develop and refine our identity. We also invite various participants, including musicians, food artists, designers, and performers, who contribute to our exhibitions, creating short-term impacts with long-term resonance.

Beyond real-life experiences, we’re building this platform as a digital garden, where we collect and connect elements from our research. This website is a space for you to explore and engage with our ongoing journey, reflecting our evolving artistic practices and collaborative spirit.

OBJECTIVE
Our work transcends creating art; it’s about curating experiences that challenge and transform how we engage with the (art) world. Exploring thinking as an ecology means seeking ways for collective experiences and living in a world that transcends the measurable. Through continuous collaboration and exploration, Acid Salt remains a living, evolving entity, always ready to absorb new influences and create transformative experiences.
